Mt. Tamalpais
State Park
Access
Wheelchair & Easy Access - Overview

Mount Tamalpais State Park includes 6,300 acres of grasslands and oak woodlands with a spectacular view from the 2,571-foot peak. The park is off Route 1 northbound via the Stinson Beach exit at 3801 Panoramic Highway, Mill Valley. Phone 415-388-2070.

Hiking
The Verna Dunshee Trail - East Peak
Offering fine panoramic views of the San Francisco Bay area, this trail is accessible for its .7 mile length. Accessible parking, picnic tables, restroom facilities, and drinking fountain are available at the trailhead.

Camping
Steep Ravine Environmental Campground
Located just south of Stinson Beach on Highway 1, this area has 7 campsites and 9 cabins. Cabin #1 also called William Kent is designated accessible. Beds, turning space and a table and counter are accessibly designed.

Parking: Designated accessible parking is available and should accommodate vans or cars. Assistance may be needed on the path to the cabin.

Note: Each campsite and cabin comes with only one parking spot - extra vehicles will have to park on the highway approximately 1 mile above the camp/cabin area.

Restroom: A flush toilet to septic tank system about 75 feet from the cabin is usable.

Pantoll Campground
A campsite at Pantoll is accessible via a loose stone path. Assistance may be needed on the path to the site.

Parking: Designated accessible parking are available for vans or cars.

Restroom: Pantoll's four pit toilets are all wheelchair accessible.
 

Picnic Area
East Peak Area:
There are two accessible tables near the trailhead to Mt. Tam. peak. A usable path to the peak offers fantastic views of the Bay.

Restroom: Nearby restroom is usable. There is an accessible design pay phone and drinking fountain near the restroom.

Parking: Designated accessible parking is a short distance from the picnic area. Routes of travel between restroom, parking and picnic area are accessible. 

The restrooms are being upgraded to accessible as of the time of this writing.


Bootjack Picnic Area
Picnic Tables: There are accessible tables at Bootjack picnic area. A usable path to the picnic area may require assistance.

Restroom: Two  Bootjack restrooms are accessible.

Parking: Designated accessible parking is a short distance from the picnic area. Routes of travel between restroom, parking and picnic area are accessible.
