Mt. Tamalpais dominates Marin's skyline, yet her rich history is a well-kept secret, hidden in journals and obscure reports. On these four Saturday walks, we accompany Nancy to the sites of illegal camps, an old gold mine, Joe's place, a plane crash, four hotels, one of which is still in operation, and other spicy bits. We get to know Alice Eastwood, George Grant, Ramon Pohli, Dad O'Rourke, William Brewer, Swede George and other old-timers whose lives were intertwined with the mountain. We will meet at a different trailhead each day for the leisurely 3-4 mile walks. Bring lunch and layered clothing. The walks will be held rain or shine, so please bring along adequate rain gear if the weather indicates. To maintain the intimacy of the walks, participation is limited to 15 people. |
